Matmen Win 6th
On February 15, Windber High School's wrestlers beat Conemaugh Township, 27-10, in the Windber High School.
Coach Alex Atty's Ramblers now have six wins and two losses while the Indians of Coach Don O'Connor hove 6-4 for the season.
The Ramblers copped six decisions, shared in two draws, and had one fall when Nick Beckey pinned Manges. The Indians won two other decisions.
In one of the season's biggest upsets, Bowser of Windber held Bob Jones, Indian captain, to a draw. This was the first time in 35 dual meets that Jones did not earn the decision. The results:

Wrestlers Win
Windber High School's wrestling tears defeated Everett, 35-7, for the Ramblers' fifth win without a loss in District 5 competition. Coach Alex Atty's matmen dropped two non-district matches.
Windber had 3 pins, 6 decisions, and shared in one tie, while Everett had one pin and a draw. The summary:

Altoona Beats Windber
Altoona High School handed Windber a 57-45 defeat on February 12, on the Roosevelt Junior High School court. This was the 16th win against two defeats for the Mountain Lions while Windber has a 8-9 record.
After an even first quarter, the Lions took a one-point lead at the end of the half, 23-22. A 19-10 margin in the third period put the game in the bag for the Lions and they also took the last period, 15-13.

Windber Ahead
Windber High Ramblers defeated Conemaugh Township, 65-60, to finish in third place in league standings. The Ramblers also ended their season record at 10-10.
The score was tied, 60-60, with two minutes left. Joe Sendek then counted on a lay up to put the Ramblers in front. In the final 30 second's Ken Solden added two fouls and Sendek one.
Both teams were exceptional at the foul line with each missing only six. Windber made 25 against 24 for the Indians. Windber made 20 of 72 shots while the Tribe hit on 1 of 75.
Dalton Cable was high scorer for the game with 24 points for the Tribemen while Solden and Sendek led the gamblers with 20 and 19 points respectively.
Conemaugh Township junior varsity won its first league game by taking a 40-19 victory.
Windber Raps Shade
Joe Sendek and Ken Solden scored a total of 56 points as Windber High School trimmed Shade, 74-55, in the final regular season game for both schools.
Sendek had 11 field goals and 10 fouls for 32 points while Ken Solden added 11 fielders and two charity tosses for 24. It was Windber's 12th victory in 22 starts and the 15th setback in 25 outings for Coach Dick Cable's Panthers.
Coach Steve Kaplan's Ramblers won a previous test at home, 7144. Windber converted 14 of 22 fouls compared to 25 to 41 for the home club. The Ramblers held a scant 16-14 edge at the end of the first quarter but gained a wide 38-25 lead at halftime.

Jr, High Bows To Keith Jr.'s
The Windber Junior High School dropped their 10th game of the season to Keith. Keith climbed into the third place by winning this game. The score was 59-23. This was the 10th defeat in 11 games for Windber.
Crider was high scorer for Keith with 19 points while Bob DePolo, high for Windber with 10.

Junior High Ends Season
Windber Junior High School ended its season with a 35 - 26 win over Richland Township in Recreation Hall.
The Ramblers showed scoring margins in each of the four quarters. Robert DePolo and Tom Klena shared scoring honors for Windber with nine points each. Gary Boysza was tops for the Rams with nine.

WHS Downs Adams
Led by Joe Sendek, who bagged 32 points, Windber High School's Ramblers moved over the .500 mark with a 68-52 victory over Adams in Recreation Hall. Coach Steve Kaplan's Ramblers now have a 11-10 record for the season.
The Ramblers led all the way and showed margins in each of the four quarters from two to six points. Adams, going down to its fifth defeat against 17 wins, scored 13 points in each period.
Sendek made nine field goals and 14 fouls out of 17 attempts for his 32 points. Dick Fern was tops for the Blue Hornets with an even dozen markers.
The Ramblers made 25 of 61 field goal tries and 18 of 21 fouls. Adams hit on 20 of 56 shots and converted 12 of 19 free throws.
Adams copped the preliminary, 35-32.
Juniors Lose Again
Hollidaysburg Jr. High moved into fifth place by defeating Windber Jr. High, 46-23. Holli¬daysburg has a 3-6 mark while 1Nindber dropped it's eighth game in nine starts.
Sam Sherwood paced the winners with 20 points, thee less than the entire Windber team made. Robert DePolo was tops for Windber with seven points.

Windber Raises Record
Windber High Ramblers raised their league record to the .500 class by subjecting Ebensburg to a 63-59 defeat in the Recreation Hall. The third quarter decided the battle in the Ramblers favor. They took the round, 24-13, to wipe out a 30-23 halftime deficit and stayed in front for the remainder of the game.
Joe Sendek made 15 of Windber's 24 points in the big stanza and finished as high scorer for the winners with 21 points. Andy DeBona chalked up 24 for the Countyseaters, whose league record stood then, 4-7.
The Ramblers hit on 22 of 70 field-goal attempts and 19 of 28 fouls. E~bensburg made only 19 of 88 scrimmage tosses and converted 21 of 35 free throws. Ebensburg won the preliminary, 32-32. Varsit summary:

Garfield Wins Over Windber
Garfield defeated Windber, 49-28 in an Inter-County Junior High School game in the Recreation Hall.
After a slow start Coach Lynn Griffith's Grenadier's gradually pulled away from the Ramblers who suffered their 9th loss in 10 1-ames. Garfield then had an 8-2I rn ark.
Mike Boykin was high scorer for the Grenadiers with 19 points, and Chuck Webb was tops for Windber with 9. Garfield made I15 of 21 fouls while Windber made 8 of 14.

Robert DePolo High Scorer
Robert DePolo was high scorer for the Windber Junior High School basketball team with a total of 95 points. The little Ramblers won two games while losing 12.
DePolo bagged 33 field goals and 29 of 56 fouls. Jerry Zack was second with 63 markers.
In team totals the Ramblers counted 126 field goals and 109 of 261 fouls for a total of 361 points. The opponents made 257 field goals and 114 of 246 fouls for 628 points.

Ferndale Trims Windber
Ferndale nosed out Windber, 73-64 in a wild-shooting game at Recreation Hall on February 9, to keep from falling into the league cellar.
The Jackets took the first period, 16-15, but Windber led at half time by a score of 3-32. Ferndale sewed up the game with a 22-10 bulge in the third period.
Ferndale connected on 30 of 73 scrimmage shots against Windber's 24 of 5 shots. At the foul line F'erndale made 13 of 38 attempts compared to the Remblers 16 of 21.
Ken Solden and Joseph Sendek scored 31 and 22 points respectively for Windber while Bill Rubish and Wayne Klaum scored 30 and 21 points respectively.
Windber's Junior Varsity won the preliminary game, 56-55.
