Plastic Fashions
Looks like Mr. Emery's artists are as busy as bees making paper weights, earrings and necklaces out of plastic. The art students cut designs in plastic blocks with a small electric drill and then paint them.
The plastic pieces come in all sizes and shapes, but the artists of Windber High file them down to the size they want and then buff them to a high polish.
The designs are not drawn on before they are drilled unless they are to be a definite design such as a heart or a butterfly.
Plastics aren't the only projects in the art department. Classes are busy painting plaster of paris casts which are ordered from McCoy's Plaster Shop in Johnstown, doing border designs and drawing heads.
